About
Thanks for looking at the site. I’ve been working as a photographer for over twelve years now and have been published in over 20 magazines internationally. I studied photography in Newcastle and began working as freelance writer and photographer in 1999. Around this time I started photographing weddings for friends and found I really enjoyed the festive atmosphere and the creative challenge.
In 2001 I moved to the north coast and worked as a casual photographer at the Northern Star before gradually becoming a freelance contributor for numerous magazines and newspapers including: Vogue Entertaining + Travel, Audi, Australian Photography, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Vacations and Travel, Tracks, Waves, Surf Europe , Paper Plane, The Newcastle Herald, Powderhound and Liv Magazine.
After studying wedding photography in Sydney with award-winning Anna Blackman Images I moved to Pacific Palms, near Forster on the mid-north coast to marry my beautiful wife and establish my own photography business. I remain a senior contributor to Tracks and Waves magazines and I continue to freelance for a host of other publications as well as doing commercial and real estate photography.
Today Kirk Owers Photography specialise in contemporary wedding photography. We’re based centrally in Pacific Palms, have a range of contacts among many local wedding businesses and are happy to help out with advice if you’re planning from afar. We regularly travel to Newcastle, Harrington, Gloucester, The Hunter Valley and we’ve been known to accept bookings for Port Macquarie, Sydney, and Byron Bay.
Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
Warm Regards,
Kirk Owers
